Playing together

How do I play with a friend on another iPhone?

Both of you open nardy and choose the same way to play. Nearby connects two phones on the same Wi-Fi network. Online finds an opponent through Game Center, so both players need to be signed in to Game Center.

Nearby play can’t find the other phone.

Check that both phones are on the same Wi-Fi network and that nardy is allowed to use it: Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network › nardy. Turn off any VPN, keep both apps open on the lobby screen, and try again. Some public and guest networks block devices from seeing each other.

Online matchmaking doesn’t start.

Make sure you are signed in to Game Center in the iPhone Settings app and have a working internet connection. Both players should have the latest version of nardy from the App Store.

What happens if the connection drops mid-game?

nardy waits for the other player to reconnect and continues from the same position. If they don’t come back, the match ends and the result is recorded.

Games & stats

Will I lose my game if I close the app?

No. Games on one screen, against the bot and in a tournament are saved as you play. Open nardy and choose Continue to pick up exactly where you stopped, including the tournament score.

Where can I see my statistics?

Tap Profile at the top of the Home screen. It shows games played, wins and losses, win rate, rating and streak, plus dice statistics: face frequency, doubles, sum of two dice, pips per roll and how your luck compares with the expected odds.

How is my rating calculated?

Your rating changes only in games against the bot and in nearby or online games. Games on one screen and tournaments count towards games played but leave the rating as it is.

Can I review a finished game?

Yes. Open the game analysis from the results screen to see your accuracy, the best move next to the one you played, and the moves that cost the most.

Where are my statistics kept?

On your iPhone only. Wins, rating and your daily challenge streak live in the app, and appear on Game Center leaderboards if you are signed in. Deleting the app deletes its statistics.

Which games can I play?

Short Nardy, Long Nardy, Backgammon, Gul Bara, Nackgammon and Hypergammon. Choose the variant, clock and doubling cube when you start a game.

The app

How do I change the board, dice or theme?

Open the Settings tab. Theme switches the app between Light and Dark. Appearance lets you choose one of seven boards, five dice styles and a roll animation (Classic, Spin, Drop or Fade). Changes apply right away, even during a match.

How do I change the app icon?

Open the Settings tab, then Appearance › App icon, and pick one of the twelve designs.

Can I turn off sounds, haptics or move hints?

Yes. All three have their own switch in the Settings tab.

How do I switch between English and Russian?

nardy follows your iPhone’s language. To change it for nardy only, open the iPhone Settings app › Apps › nardy › Language.

Does nardy work on iPhone Duo?

Yes. Play on the cover screen or unfold for the full board. The match keeps running when you fold, unfold or rotate the phone.

Which devices are supported?

Any iPhone running iOS 26 or later. iPhone Duo features need iOS 27.1 or later.
